Taiwan’s monthly minimum wage will rise to NT$30,900

Starting January 1, 2027, Taiwan’s monthly minimum wage will rise to NT$30,900, with the hourly rate increasing to NT$205. This NT$1,400 (4.745%) increase was approved by the 21-member Minimum Wage Review Committee on September 24 after five hours of deliberation regarding economic growth, consumer prices, and labor trends.

Key Details of the Wage Hike:

  • Historic Milestone: This marks Taiwan's 11th consecutive annual wage increase and the first time the monthly baseline has crossed the NT$30,000 threshold.

  • Impact on Migrant Workers: Filipino workers covered by Taiwan's statutory minimum wage will automatically qualify for the new rate. At an estimated exchange rate of NT$1 to ₱1.80, the basic monthly pay roughly equals ₱55,620.

  • Total Compensation: This baseline rate applies before additional earnings like overtime, shift allowances, or bonuses are added, and before standard deductions for taxes and insurance are applied.

The decision was finalized by a diverse committee of government, labor, and employer representatives, including six new members, under the guidance of Labor Minister Hung Sun-han.
